There has been a fire outbreak at the W1 Female Hostel (Annex Campus) of the University of Uyo.
The fire which broke out about 5 minutes ago (8:47AM) reportedly started in Room 10 and has spread to room 09.Other occupants of the hostel are seen running helter skelter, scrambling and trying to evacuate their belongings before the fire spreads to their rooms.
At present, the situation is being attended to by the Vice Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Aniekan Brown, co-ordinating a combined team of the school's Man O'War, P.C.I and Red Cross officials who are battling to put-out the fire with buckets of water mixed with detergent. Fire Service Officials from the Uyo Division have been contacted and are reportedly on their way.
