Enactus is an international organisation in over 36 countries; 1,600 universities with over 66,500 students as members and an estimated 2,800,000 impacted by our projects. Enactus, formerly SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) is an acronym for Entrepreneurial Action Us:
- Entrepreneurial meaning having the perspective to see an opportunity and the talent to create value from that opportunity
- Action - the willingness to do something and the commitment to see it through even when the outcome is not guaranteed.
- Us- a group of people who see themselves connected in some important way; individuals that are part of a greater whole.
It is an international organisation that connects student, academic & business leaders through entrepreneurial-based projects that empower people to transform opportunities into real, sustainable progress for themselves and their communities. We believe that human progress depends on our ability to tap into the entrepreneurial spirit that lives within each of us and channel the unique talents, passions and ideas we each possess toward creating good in the world. We are guided by academic advisers and business experts that help student leaders of Enactus create and implement community empowerment projects around the globe. The experience not only transforms lives, it helps students develop the kind of talent and perspective that are essential to leadership in an ever-more complicated and challenging world.
Enactus Uniuyo branch of this organisation in the University of Uyo with over a 100 students from various departments & faculties in the university as members. Enactus Uniuyo chapter of Enactus was inaugurated in 2004 and since then has been waxing stronger with the current team winning the Sahara Energy Light Up Nigeria contest with the Greenwine Project which created a wind turbine that powers a health centre at the back of Annex Campus of the University of Uyo & also took first position in the Nigerian Universities Commission ANEW "Make Your Mark" contest .
The recruitment of new members to join Enactus Uniuyo took place on the 6th of December, 2014 and the results of successful candidates who took part in the oral & written interviews are out and they will be posted on this blog. The induction of new recruits, send-forth ceremony of old recruits, awards of certificates, project progress defense by the various project groups & appointment of new executives will take place on Thursday, the 18th of December, 2014.
