The Emir of Hadejia, His Royal Highness Alhaji Abubakar Adamu Maje, CON, has been appointed as the new Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. This was contained in a statement signed by the Minister of Education Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, announcing the President's approval for the appointment of Chancellors for the 38 Federal Universities in Nigeria.
Born in Hadejia on 15th October, 1960, Alhaji Abubakar Adamu Maje, is the 16th Emir of Hadejia and the Chairman, Jigawa State Council of Chiefs. He holds a Diploma in Rural & Social Studies and an Advanced Diploma in Public Administration, from the School of Rural & Social Studies, Kano.
Alh. Abubakar Maje is a seasoned civil servant, who has served as Social Welfare Officer and Senior Personnel Officer with the Ministry of Social Welfare, Kano State and Executive Secretary, Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board.
His hobbies include reading, horse-riding, basketball and travelling.
He takes over from the Emir of Fika, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Abali Ibn Muhammadu Idrissa, CON, D. Lits., as the 4th Chancellor of the University of Uyo.
